Laura earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Trumpet Performance and Early Childhood Development before completing AMI Primary training through Montessori Northwest and a master's degree in Montessori Education.
She spent 15 years in the classroom as a Montessori lead guide, teaching in Portland, Oregon, New Zealand, and Chicago, Illinois before returning home to Leelanau County to be closer to family. Laura now serves as Head of School, drawing on her years of classroom experience to support children, families, and educators alike.
Laura and her husband, Patrick, love spending time with their three children and are thankful to have landed back in Leelanau County. Outside of school, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, cooking, gardening, and finding any excuse to start a new arts-and-crafts project. She finds singing songs or a good cup of tea can lighten most moods.
Laura is passionate about creating communities where children are respected, curiosity is nurtured, and every person has a sense of belonging.
